Estimated losses of EUR250mn from Storm Herwart, which hit large parts of northern and central Europe over the weekend, should be absorbed by insurance carriers, according to actuarial specialist Meyerthole Siems Kohlruss.
"Together with the summer event Paul in June, the claims burden for the insurance industry in Germany is already over EUR1bn this year, and the winter storm season has just begun," commented Meyerthole managing director Onnen Siems.
