As a modern company it is natural for us to take our social and ecological responsibility seriously and to turn it into practical action.

Corporate responsibility:

In the first place we define ourselves as a company that – on the basis of economic success – offers reliable work places to our employees. We believe in balanced economic growth. As a company that takes on trainees, social responsibility is a serious issue for us.

Professional responsibility

Professionally we think beyond the borders of our company. We connect the areas of insurance mathematics and economy in the framework of VM4K, an association that promotes actuarial mathematics in the field of motor insurance (German "Förderverein VersicherungsMathematik im Bereich der Kraftfahrtversicherung e.V."). We are a VM4K founding member and engage in the activities of the association. Furthermore we support the internet site of the German Association of Mathematicians, German "Deutsche Mathematiker Vereinigung, DMV", In 2008, Meyerthole Siems Kohlruss carried out a school project on energy conservation. In 2016 and 2018 the SCOR Actuarial Award was granted to employees working at Meyerthole Siems Kohlruss.

Social responsibility:

In 2016, Meyerthole Siems Kohlruss donated a four-digit euro amount to the initiative "Integrationshaus" that helps refugees to play an active part in the German society.

After the devastating hurricane in the Philippines in 2013, Meyerthole Siems Kohlruss donated a four-digit euro amount to Doctors without Borders. In 2019, another four-digit euro amount was donated to a number of social projects based in Cologne.

Furthermore, we are active in the field of research and education. In 2014 Meyerthole Siems Kohlruss donated a four-digit euro amount to a non-profit organisation that is promoting the department of insurance science at the university of applied technology in Cologne.

In 2016, Onnen Siems and Carsten Seyfarth become "Mathemacher des Monats", an award by the Association of German Mathematicians, for their engagement with pupils at upper secondary level with whom they carried out a project related to mathematics at Hansa Gymasium Köln, a grammar school in Cologne. In 2008, the year of mathematics, Onnen Siems was bringing maths into school classes as a "maths doer" at Hansa Gymasium Köln.

Ecological responsibility:

Environmentally responsible behaviour is a core value for us.

  • On business trips we go by train.
  • We offer a “job ticket“ to all employees that gives a discount for the use of public transport.
  • In cooperation with a school class (9th grade) we developed a project about energy saving.
  • Our business stationary is produced with paper from sustainable sources.
  • The electricity used in our office comes from renewable energy sources.

Cultural responsibility:

Meyerthole Siems Kohlruss supports Cologne-based artist Kerstin Herrmann paintings of whom are on display in the office. Some of them have been obtained.
